The Museum of Central Pomerania in Słupsk invites you to a meeting from the series “Forum of art and artists – lectures on art history”. It will be a lecture by Lucjan Hanak titled – Architecture of Vienna. From Art Nouveau to Deconstructivism.

Architecture of Vienna. From Art Nouveau to Deconstructivism

As Lucjan Hanak writes, “Unique architectural works are concentrated in Vienna. The first of them is the Secession Pavilion by Joseph Maria Olbrich from the 19th century with a gilded dome. Then, from the 20th century, comes the Wotrubakirche church, i.e. the “Church of the Holy Trinity”, made on the initiative of Dr. Margaret Ottilinger, composed only of cubes and many glazings. Further examples are the colorful and ecological buildings designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, with trees growing on the roofs and loggias. Hundertwasser House – a residential building, not for sightseeing, but for Viennese people to live in. Kunst Haus Wien – with a permanent exhibition of the artist. Hundertwasser Village – the artist’s own house with a shopping center and Spittelau, a municipal building resembling a temple, although it is municipal architecture. The latest works are deconstructivist residential and service houses designed by the British Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, as well as the futuristic buildings of the Vienna University of Economics and Business together with the Library. All buildings are included in the encyclopedia of architecture.”
